The Historic Quarter Arts Festival is officially underway, and all the entries can be seen in businesses around the Historic Quarter.
But that’s not the only thing going on here…
Rest Under the Stars
Sit back and relax under the starry ceiling of Carlisle Cathedral while their Rest Under The Stars installation runs (until September 2) – accompanied by a soundscape specially crafted by the Prism Arts team.
If you prefer to be out and about…
As part of the Historic Quarter Arts Festival, the cathedral is bringing back its free summer watercolour activity this month. On Monday August 22 families can hire a watercolour pack and enjoy painting in the undercroft or outside in the cathedral precinct.
Need more art?
Of course you do. The 53rd exhibition by Carlisle and Cumbria Artists takes place in the Fratry from August 7 to 21 in the Fratry at Carlisle Cathedral, showing a wide variety of original paintings in various modes (including landscapes as well as figurative and still life work in both contemporary and traditional styles – all of which are for sale).
Hot on its heels is the Synergy Art Exhibition organised by StArt Exhibitions and Carlisle Contemporary which takes place in the Fratry from August 26 to September 8.
Where to find your favourite artist
