iCan Wellbeing CSEP Funded Support
The challenge
iCan Wellbeing Group, a Carlisle-based social enterprise, delivers weekly fitness classes, wellness activities and community outreach programmes to around 500 active members. They were looking to strengthen their marketing and digital presence while staying true to their community-first ethos where every member is known by name.
The team currently does not have a dedicated marketing lead to manage or organise their digital platforms, meaning they were in need of strategy and clear direction.
Their social media output was largely promotional and did not reflect the stories, personalities and real-life experience that set iCan apart. They were also seeking guidance on content planning, how to use analytics, website development and clarity on what a future marketing role should look like so they could hire the right person to take this work on.
With 12 hours of funded support through the Cumbria Social Enterprise Partnership programme, the challenge was to provide strategic advice, actionable direction and a strong framework for a newly hired marketing person to confidently build upon.
The Intro Approach
To support iCan in strengthening their digital presence, we began with a review of their existing online profiles across social media and their website. This allowed us to identify opportunities to shift from primarily promotional posts to a storytelling-led approach that highlights their community, members and staff.
We then developed a comprehensive social media marketing plan, detailing platform-specific tactics, content styles and posting tips. The plan included example post ideas with creative direction on visuals and written captions to make it easy for the team to hit the ground running with the new content styles suggested.
Recognising their desire to hire a dedicated marketing role, we created a marketing job advert tailored to attract the right candidate.
To strengthen their digital foundation further we also completed a website audit, providing clear action points to improve user experience, clarity of messaging and overall online presence.
The result was a practical, easy-to-follow framework designed to empower the iCan’s team and help them in building a vibrant, engaged community online as they have done in person.
What the client said...
Lisa Bridgewater, Founder & Chief Operations Officer
“Working with Intro was exactly the boost we needed for our social media and website edits! Amber was super supportive and understood our struggles with capacity and trained staff – she was realistic with her suggestions for improvement. Amber and Intro gave us a new social media strategy, posting guidance and website audit which honestly blew the cobwebs off something that always sits at the bottom of our to-do list.
We now feel much more confident about how to improve our online presence and have a clear direction (plus a social media expert job description to make it happen!). Really helpful and exactly what iCan needed. Thanks so much and thanks to CSEP for the chance to get this support.”
